Monroe County entered Tuesday’s Region 4 semifinal year with two things on their side: an incredible 28-3 record, and Player of the Year Dillon Geralds. Warren Central entered after a precarious quarterfinal win on Friday night over Russell County and a two game stretch of major offensive struggles. But, did that mean the Dragons were due? In the first half, the answer appeared to be a definitive and emphatic yes.
Tracy Hampton’s 25 foot three at the buzzer gave Warren Central a 29-21 halftime advantage. Hampton was on fire, 4-6 from the floor and 4-4 from beyond the arc. His 14 led all scorers.
The third quarter saw Central go up 41-29 before Monroe cut it to 5 at 43-38 entering the fourth quarter. Chris Amos, who finished with 15 points, took over offensively late and everybody else made enough shots. Monroe couldn’t find their range and took quick shots and even Dillon Geralds’ 24 points wasn’t enough. Warren Central pulled away late to win it 68-51.
Tracy Hampton was named Player of the Game. It sets up yet another Bowling Green vs. Warren Central Regional Final. Our coverage begins at 5:50 on GoDragonNation.com
