District play finally opened up for Warren Central, the last team yet to play a D-14 matchup, but once the ball was tipped, it was all Dragons, leading it by ten early and cruising behind a defense that has gone from good to great to nearly insufferable. The trademark of the Unseld era has been a trap and a full court press. Franklin-Simpson couldn’t solve it on Tuesday night and Warren East ran into a buzzsaw on Friday that challenged every pass and made every shot a difficult proposition.
Chris Amos was the offensive star early. He had double figures in the first quarter alone, then would work defensively, finishing with 14 big points. Tracy Hampton drained back to back threes in the third and it was off to the races for the Dragons. The emphatic back to back dunk sequence from a Tristen Murray alley-oop to Jared Savage and a one handed throwdown for Kobe Caldwell in the fourth would seal it.
Dylan Gaines struggled for Warren East, picking up two fouls in the first two minutes of the game, sitting for the remainder of the half, and coming in ice cold in the second half. Kaleb Britt led the Raiders with 10. Warren East is off until Monday while the Dragons host Barren County in a Region 4 matchup on Saturday night.
