Warren Central opened district play with their most complete performance of the season, starting fast offensively, playing dominant defense, and blanking an improved Barren County High School football team 38-0 at a jampacked Dragon homecoming night at WCHS.
Central led it 31-0 at the half following TDs from Colin Burnam and an eight yard touchdown reception for Jensen Feggins, but the play of the season thus far came from quarterback Chance Shanklin. As time expired, on a play that looked dead on the 30, Shanklin cut back to the middle of the field and ran between the hashes untouched for a 42 yard touchdown that effectively ended any chance of momentum for the Trojans.
Coming off a four score performance last week, RB Colin Burnam would tally three more trips to the end zone as he continues to total enormous yardage after contact. Defensively, Damani Walker had an exceptional night in the secondary and Malik Peele would finish with an interception near the end of the third quarter.
Up next for the 4-1 Dragons, a short trip up the road to Greenwood High School to play the Gators. Our coverage begins at 6:50 CT on GoDragonNation.com
