Dragons Rally late but fall short to Hopkinsville

In a tough midseason matchup, the Hopkinsville Tigers defeated the Warren Central Dragons 56-53. A game that featured tough defense and a late comeback, it was an offensive explosion in the third quarter that allowed the visiting Tigers to come away with the victory.

At halftime, the Dragons led 26-23, but that lead wouldn’t last much longer. Out of the break, Hopkinsville’s full court pressure defense forced several Dragon turnovers and led to easy baskets. The Tigers scored 19 points in the third and led by as many 12 points before Warren Central began to chip away.

With just two seconds left, the Dragons had a chance to tie the game with a fade away three pointer by Skyeler Potter. The shot missed wide left and led to the final score of 56-53. The Region 2 Tigers advance to 15-8 on the season while the Dragons fell to 12-9 on the year. Warren Central’s next game will be Friday, Feb. 5th at Warren East.
