East looks to rebound against winless Dragons

Warren East and Warren Central will show down on the Dragons’ home turf on Thursday evening in a battle of in-county rivals.

The Raiders (3-3) have dropped their last two games since their 21-10 win over Edmonson County on Sept. 8. Central (0-6) is looking for their first win since Oct. 16, 2015, when the Dragons beat East on their home field, 23-12.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

Warren East:

Overview: The Raiders have lost two straight heartbreaking battles, 16-14 to Glasgow and 15-14 to Monroe County. East was haunted against Monroe with the loss of quarterback Dwayne Cook and receiver Caleb Huskey, and their status for Thursday’s game is unknown. Should they not be able to play, the attention will turn to the likes of running back duo Trevor Naftel and Thomas Maxey, who have run wild for 535 yards and 524 yards on the season, respectively, and seven touchdowns combined. Maxey is also East’s second-leading receiver with 222 yards on eight catches and one touchdown.

Still seeking their first win since defeating the Raiders on Oct. 16, 2015, Central has seen many players step up to make an impact to help the Dragons move forward. Running back DJ Tyner has emerged as the leader of Central’s offense, carrying the rock 103 times for 519 yards and three scores. Kaleb Metcalfe has been a trustworthy receiver with eight catches for 119 yards on the season Marlon Scott-Coleman leads the defense with 38 tackles.Warren Central
