East’s Katie Gardner named Kentucky Miss Softball

Katie Gardner has added another big-time accomplishment to her well-decorated resume.

An all-around dominant pitcher who has put together an outstanding high school career at Warren East, the senior on Sunday was named 2019 Kentucky Miss Softball by the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association.

“To be chosen as Miss Kentucky Softball, I’m very grateful, humbled, and honored,” Gardner told The Sporting Times. “I’m proud to represent the Warren East community, and I couldn’t have done it without the help of my family, teammates, coaches and supporters.”

Gardner, a Tennessee-Martin signee who was also named the 2019 Region 4 Athletic Director’s Player of the Year, has recorded stellar numbers in a Lady Raiders uniform over the years and helped lead the program to great heights.

This season alone, Gardner has recorded 321 strikeouts and sports a record of 30-1 with an ERA of 0.74. For her career, she’s tallied 1,211 Ks with 108 total wins.

After helping East capture a second straight Region 4 championship this year, Gardner and the Lady Raiders look to continue their special season Friday as they meet Ashland Blazer in the quarterfinals of the KHSAA Fast Pitch Softball State Tournament at the University of Kentucky’s John Cropp Stadium in Lexington.
