We haven’t confirmed if Marquez Trigg has a cape with an “S” on it, but If you haven’t seen Marquez play high school football you still have this season to watch this young man do his thing. He is the real deal and is worth a trip to any game Glasgow plays in this year to get a sneak preview of the future Hilltopper and arguable one of the best running backs in the state.
Glasgow running back Marquez Trigg has committed to play his college football at Western Kentucky University. Marquez, a senior to be this fall has led the Scottie’s to a 34-6 record during his 3 years. Trigg is 6’0 195 lbs, bench presses 340 pounds and ran a 4.59 at the Jr combine in San Antonio last winter. Through 3 seasons Trigg has a very impressive resume rushing for 3101 yards, 49 touchdowns on 437 carries averaging 7.1 yards per carry.
WKU is not only getting a powerful running back, but also an excellent student athlete. Trigg last season put on a show during the second round of the 2A playoffs where the Glasgow Scotties ranked #4 hosted #3 DeSales.
Trigg’s accomplishment that night was nothing less than a spectacular effort that was overshadowed by a heartbreaking loss in the last couple of minutes of the game. None the less, Trigg’s performance that night could easily be ranked by those in attendance as one of the best rushing performances in a single game.
For the season, DeSales only allowed an average of 80 yards rushing per game. Marquez Trigg rushed for 219 yard on 26 carries, averaging 8.42 yards per carry. Trigg was not going to be denied as he punished tacklers as much as they attempted to hit him. Trigg had a 90 yard kickoff return and was tackled at the 4 yard line, and he had a 91yard run to score one of his three touchdowns on the night.
