Former Greenwood coach Seabolt named new OL coach at BGHS

Chris Seabolt wasn’t away from coaching football too long.

Seabolt — who served as the head coach at Greenwood from 2013-17 — on Thursday afternoon was named the new offensive line coach at Bowling Green under new Purples’ coach Mark Spader.

Seabolt guided the Gators to an overall record of 29-29 while at the helm and implemented a dominant offense that relied on the option with standout quarterback Jackson Adams piloting it.

Following a 4-8 season in 2017 that ended with a 42-21 loss to Bowling Green in the second round of the Class 5A state playoffs, Seabolt on Dec. 14 announced his resignation from his head coaching position at GHS.

Seabolt’s 29 wins at the helm of the Gators rank him as the second winningest coach in the history of the program. His teams had a combined record of 3-5 in playoff games, and those three postseason wins are also the second most in school history.

Seabolt joins a Bowling Green program that went 10-3 last season and fell 28-21 to South Warren in the second round of the Class 5A state playoffs.

Along with Seabolt’s hiring, it was also reported Thursday that former Greenwood assistant coach Byron Lowe was named the new running backs coach under Spader.
