Games to Watch in Week 3 High School Football
Edmonson County @ Grayson County (8:00) – After a 2-0 start, the Cougars are off and running again. Head coach Ed Smart’s team has outscored their last two opponents 72-6 with a strong running game fueled by Hunter Gibson 9457-yards / 8-TDS) and a defense which has been smothering. So maybe the warnings of doom and bloom are a bit premature as with Edmonson county, Fort Campbell, Muhlenberg county and Graves up next, the Cougars could find themselves 6-0 after six weeks. Quite a surprise, huh Ed!
Elizabethtown @ John Hardin (7:30) – It has been a long time (like say 2004) since these two area teams last faced off and with head coach Mark Brown on the other side of the field (he was the John hardin coach during their last two meetings) it really adds to the intrigue in this weeks historic event. The Bulldogs won 41-40 and 20-18 in their last two meetings, but things have changed as both teams are looking to rebound from ugly losses. Look for Elizabethtown to run and use their defense to set up field position. On the other side, John Hardin will try to shut off the run first and try to pressure Clay Games.
Ballard @ North Hardin (7:30) – the Trojans are off to a 2-0 start and both the offense and defense are looking good. Ballard is coming off an ugly 41-14 loss to powerful Male and would like to get away from a win anyway possible. The key will be can Ballard stop the powerful Trojans running game and come up with a few turnovers which seems to be a unique probem for North which seems to dominate everywhere else. Logan Coleman has already thrown for six touchdowns in two games and seems to handle the offense well. The Big blue defense has been stifing and the team is in a great position to go 5-0 if they get this one in the win column.
