The Greenwood Gators imposed their will on the Logan County Cougars en route to a 48-12 win.
The Gator offense looked to make a statement right out of the gate. Greenwood scored the game’s first touchdown just a minuet and four seconds into the game. On the third play of the game Jackson Adams took the ball to the house from six yards out to give the Gators an early seven-point lead.
On the very next possession it only took the boys in green two plays to tack on six more points. This time Adams ran it in from 28 yards out.
Adams finished the game with four touchdowns and 167 yards on nine carries.
Logan County fought hard and got themselves on the board towards the end of the first half. Freshman quarterback Tyler Ezell connected with Nick Blakemore on an eight-yard touchdown pass, but a missed extra point kept the Gators in front by eight.
After the halftime intermission it was more of the same for Greenwood. The Gators scored 28 unanswered points against a tiring Logan County defense to force a running clock in the fourth quarter.
Each team scored one more touchdown in garbage time. Ezell connected on a 65-yard touchdown pass to Blakemore to for the second Cougar score of the game. Reed Slone broke loose for a 30-yard touchdown run to finish out the game for the Gators.
Greenwood improved to 4-1 on the season while the Cougars fell to 0-5. Greenwood stays on the road for the next game as they travel to face off against the Scotties in Glasgow.
