Gators Dominate: Hand Trojans 5th Straight Loss

The Gators looked to start district play off on the right foot as they traveled up I-65 N to face Barren County in Glasgow, KY. The forecast for the game was rainy, windy, and cold as you could tell fall was officially here. Greenwood wasted no time, as Noah Pillow took the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown to take a 7-0 lead.

The Trojans would answer back though, as Andrew Hughes ran it in from 1 yard out to tie the game at 7 with 5:33 left in the first quarter. On the very first play of the first offensive possession for the Gators, Noah Pillow busted through the middle for a 76 yard touchdown gallop to put Greenwood back in front 14-7. Then it was Jackson Adam’s turn, as he would score the next 4 touchdowns for the Gators on the ground to make it 41-7 with 4:56 left until halftime.

Barren County had no answer for the high powered Gators offense, and Greenwood’s defense continued to play very well. Malcolm Johnson would add another score for the Gators before the half with a 9 yard touchdown scamper. The running clock was now on, as Greenwood was in front 48-7 heading into halftime. Hughes would add one final score for the Trojans with a 9 yard touchdown run with 6:58 to go in the third quarter. Triston Wilson would add one final score for the Gators with a 22 yard touchdown run with 2:20 to go in the third.

The rest was history, as the clock was drained the rest of the quarter and fourth quarter with the running clock on. Greenwood (6-1) beat Barren County (2-5) 55-13 to start district play 1-0. The Gators have their bye week next Friday as fall break is here. Greenwood will return to the swamp in two weeks to face district opponent Grayson County (2-5).
