Gators Roll for Homecoming move to 4-1

It was homecoming in the swamp for tonight’s Greenwood versus Logan County matchup. The Gators were looking to continue their winning ways in their second home game of the season. The Cougars were looking to win their first game of the season, as well as end their 27 game losing streak. The Gators scored first with senior running back Noah Pillow catching a 39 yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Jackson Adams with 9:54 to go in the first quarter. Greenwood’s Blake Kirby converted the two point conversion run from 2 yards out to make it 8-0 Greenwood. This was a special moment that both coaches agreed upon doing once the Gators score their first touchdown. Kirby is a senior who has been battling a disease for a little while now. Xezayier Snorton tacked on another one for Greenwood with a 15 yard touchdown run with 6:22 left in the first to extend the lead to 15-0.

As the Cougars continued to find no answer on offense, the Gators continued the route. This time special teams chimed in with a 22 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by Dakota Ford to build the lead to 22-0 for the Gators. Greenwood added one final score in the first quarter to make it 29-0, this time with Adams hitting tight end Preston Fletcher in the end zone for a 3 yard touchdown pass. Noah Pillow continued to make big plays, as he returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown with 10:45 to go in the second to pile on the Greenwood lead 36-0. As the Gators defense kept the shutout going against Logan County’s offense, the Gators offense kept rolling. With 1:00 remaining in the half, Adams ran it in from 10 yards out to make the score 43-0, as the running clock continued.

The Cougars finally got on the board in the fourth quarter, as running back Antwine Sydnor ran it in from 5 yards out to make it 43-7 Greenwood. The clock was running the whole second half to make this game a quick one, as Greenwood won its’ 2015 homecoming football game 43-7 over Logan County. Senior Blake Kirby was our player of the game with his two point conversion run, great story. The Gators (4-1) will return home to the swamp next week to face Glasgow from 2A.
