Gators run into buzz saw against Spartans

Greenwood and South Warren clashed Friday night in a much anticipated cross-town rivalry. Both teams came into the game 2-0, so something had to give. The Spartans showed why they were just named the number one team in the state in class 4a. South Warren quarterback Ryder Litten put the Spartans ahead first in this game with a 34 yard touchdown run. They never looked back from there. The next score came once again from Litten, this time with a 38 yard touchdown run to make it 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. Devante Colton kept the scoring going for the Spartans, who ran it in from 40 yards to make it 21-0. As the Gators continued to find no answer on offense, South Warren kept rolling. The next three Spartan touchdowns came from the defense and special teams.

The running clock was on midway through the second quarter, with South Warren in control up 43-0. Greenwood finally got on the scoreboard late in the second quarter. Sophomore quarterback Jackson Adams showcased what we were waiting for all game, with a 2 yard touchdown run to cut the lead to 43-7. Unfortunately for the Gators it was too little too late, as the second teams played the whole second half. No more scores occurred, as South Warren dominated all the way with a 43-7 victory.IMG_9344
