If you’re a fan of high-scoring football games, then Glasgow at Warren East is the Week 5 game you need to attend.

The Scotties and Raiders, who are averaging 36 and 24 points per game, respectively, put their high-powered offenses to the test on Friday when the two sides kickoff at 7 p.m. at Jim Ross Field.

Glasgow (3-1) travels to Warren East after suffering its first loss of the season last Friday — a 39-35 heartbreaker at Allen County-Scottsville. In a contest that featured eight lead changes, the Scotties led 14-6 after the first quarter but trailed 20-14 at halftime. Similar to the first half, Glasgow was up 29-26 after three quarters before ACS ultimately came out on top by scoring 13 points in the fourth.

Quarterback Dalvin Smith threw for 163 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 126 yards and a pair of scores. Wide receiver Griffin Murphy caught seven passes for 114 yards and a TD while running back Sielverio Rescontellio tallied 80 yards and a score.

As a team, Glasgow has posted 947 rushing yards in four games thus far while its defense has only given up 290 rushing yards.

Warren East (3-1) returns home following a 21-10 road win at Edmonson County in Week 4. Quarterback Dwayne Cook passed for 192 yards and a touchdown and running back Thomas Maxey racked up 209 yards and two TDs on 29 carries. Wide receiver Caleb Huskey had 45 yards and a score on three receptions.

Defensively for the Raiders, linebacker Isaiah Boards continues to wreak havoc on opposing offenses, tallying 51 tackles on the season (12.8 tackles per game). Trebor Bunton has also posted 37 tackles for East.

Glasgow is ranked No. 7 in Class 2A in the latest Kentucky Associated Press poll while Warren East received six votes in 4A.

Matchups to Watch:

Scottie rushing attack vs. Raider defenseWhile the Raiders have one of the best linebackers in the area in Isaiah Boards, they have still given up 941 rushing yards on the season (235.3/game). Warren East will have to find a way to contain quarterback Dalvin Smith, who has proven to be able to get it done both through the air and on the ground, along with running back Sielverio Rescontellio, who has also been a big-play threat for the Scotties.

Caleb Huskey/Dwayne Cook vs. Scottie secondaryIt will be interesting to see who will win this matchup. Huskey has put up insane numbers this season, but the Scotties have tallied six interceptions as a team. Cook has thrown six touchdowns this season – all to Huskey – but has also thrown seven interceptions. The Raiders cannot afford to force any throws against the talented Scotties’ secondary.

Raider run game vs. Scottie defenseAlong with the insane numbers that Huskey has put up this season, there are also the insane numbers that Trevor Naftel has put up. The Raiders have tallied 905 rushing yards as a team this season, but the Scotties have only allowed 290 this season, including only 125 to a Russellville team that put up 4,193 rushing yards last season.
