Landrum and Moberly Named Mr. and Miss Kentucky Golf

Sophomore Chase Landrum of Glasgow High School and senior Elsa Moberly of Pulaski Co. High School were named Mr. & Ms. Golf in Kentucky as the Kentucky All-State First & Second Teams were announced today.IMG_2493 (426x640)

Landrum, who is making his second appearance on the first team, totaled 830 points highlighted by a tie for 3rd place finish in the Leachman Buick GMC Cadillac/KHSAA State Championship.  The season was an extremely successful one for Landrum as he won two invitational tournaments and finished with eight top 10’s including four runner-up finishes.  He captured the Region III Boys Championship held at Glasgow Country Club.  Moberly, who finished alone in 3rd place at the Leachman Buick GMC Cadillac/KHSAA State Tournament, totaled 855 points and is making her second appearance on the first team.  The senior won three invitational tournaments and finished in the top five in all eight events she competed. She was also the Region IX Girls Champion that was held at Burnside State Park Golf Course.

Landrum beat out sophomore Zach Norris of Jackson Co. High School who accumulated 730 points.  Junior Jacob Cook of Franklin Co. High School was next in third place with 715 points.  Senior Connor Haas, who was part of the 2012 & 2103 state team championships from West Jessamine High School, finished fourth with 700 points to tie with junior Drew Augenstein of Owensboro Catholic High School. Augenstein won the individual state title at the Leachman Buick GMC Cadillc/KHSAA State Championship by three shots.  Junior Michael Sass of St. Xavier High School was next in sixth place totaling 665 points.  Juniors Tyler Lippert from Mason Co. High School and Allen Hamilton of St. Xavier High School tied for seventh place with 615 points while senior James Inman Trinity High School finished in ninth place with a total of 585 points. Rounding out the first team was junior Ryan Gillum of Elliott Co. High School as he total 560 points to finish in tenth place.

IMG_2265 (530x640)Moberly won a close race as she outdistanced junior Lauren Hartlage of Elizabethtown High School by only 25 points. Hartlage totalled 830 points and beat out senior Madison Thomas from Shelby Co. High School. Thomas captured the individual crown in the Leachman Buick GMC Cadillac/KHSAA Girls Championship by four shots.  2013 Ms. Golf Maddie Rose Hamilton of Sacred Heart Academy and junior Tristyn Nowlin of Madison Central High School were next as both players finished with 785 points.  Senior MacKenzie Peyton was next in sixth place as she accumulated 735 points while senior Olivia Cason of Owensboro Catholic was seventh after totaling 625 points. Anna Hack, who won the 2012 individual tltle for Calloway Co., finished with 565 points as the senior finished eighth in the standings. Senior Ellen Kehoe of Taylor Co. High School was next with 530 points to finished in ninth place while junior Leslie Ginter of Henry Clay High School rounds out the top ten as she totaled 505 points.

The All-State First & Second Teams are chosen by compiling points in invitational tournaments, the regional tournament and the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Championship.  The First Team players and their coaches will be honored at Big Spring Country Club in Louisville on Saturday, November 8 at a banquet sponsored by the Musselman-Dunne and the KY PGA Junior Golf Tours.
