  1. Greenwood Gators 14-2

Outlook: Behind the powerful bat of Zachary Davis, the Gators have gotten out to a blazing start through the first month of the season. The sophomore is batting a region-best .520 with seven doubles and 13 RBI. Pitchers Blake Marks and James Russell are among the state leaders with sub-1 ERAs and a combined 7-0 record.

Week 6 Games: at Warren Central (Monday), Warren Central (Tuesday), Glasgow (Thursday), at Barren County (Friday)

  1. Russell County Lakers 9-5

Outlook: Russell County has won four-straight games after going 2-2 in the Cal Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Adam Walters is batting .405 with 16 RBI, while Mayes Gosser has scored 15 runs and knocked in 13 with a .400 average. Sophomore pitcher Ayden McGowan is 1-0 in three starts with a 1.87 ERA and a team-best 15 strikeouts.

Week 6 Games: at Monroe County (Monday), Metcalfe County (Tuesday), at Metcalfe County (Wednesday), Bowling Green (Saturday), Anderson County (Saturday)

  1. Warren East Raiders 11-5

Outlook: Outside of two, opening week losses to St. Xavier, the Raiders have zero in-state losses in seven innings. Warren East is 7-1 against region foes with wins over Bowling Green, South Warren, Logan County (three times), and Franklin-Simpson (twice). Maddox Tarrence is hitting .378 with 14 hits and 10 RBI.

Week 6 Games: Barren County (Monday), at Barren County (Tuesday)

  1. South Warren Spartans 11-5

Outlook: South Warren picked up one of the most impressive intra-region wins of 2023 with an 8-7 victory over Warren East last Tuesday in extra innings. The Spartans are led by sophomore Ethan Reynolds and his .515 batting average and two home runs, while pitchers Jackson Joiner (20 strikeouts in 13.1 innings) and Austin Allen (2-0 with a 1.58 ERA) are having outstanding seasons on the mound.

Week 6 Games: Bowling Green (Monday), at Bowling Green (Tuesday)

  1. Bowling Green Purples 6-8

Outlook: The Purples are in the midst of a four-game losing streak but will be looking to right the ship with a district home-and-home against South Warren this week. Dillon Maners has been consistent at the plate and on the mound for Bowling Green. The senior is batting .467 and has drawn 18 walks, ranked fifth in the state. He also holds a 1.17 ERA with 21 strikeouts in four starts.

Week 6 Games: at South Warren (Monday), South Warren (Tuesday), Franklin-Simpson (Friday), at Russell County (Saturday)

  1. Logan County Cougars 6-11

Outlook: Logan County has six losses by three runs or less to teams ranked ahead of it in the ST Power Rankings. The Cougars have been in nearly every game they’ve played this season. A major reason for their success has been because of the scorching bat of Davin Yates. The junior is batting .446 with 18 RBI and is tied for state lead with seven home runs.

Week 6 Games: at Russellville (Monday), Russellville (Tuesday), Allen County-Scottsville (Thursday), Butler County (Friday), Hancock County (Saturday)

  1. Todd County Central Rebels 8-7

Outlook: Todd County Central won seven of its first nine games, but the Rebels have since lost five of six. Outfielder Gavyn Nolan is batting .425 with 19 runs scored, 16 runs batted in, 11 walks, and has stolen 11 bases in as many attempts. Senior Jase Hampton has been unhittable on the mound, striking out 28 batters in five appearances and holding a 0.00 ERA.

Week 6 Games: Franklin-Simpson (Monday), at Franklin-Simpson  (Tuesday) Kenwood (Thursday), vs. Edmonson County (Saturday at Russellville), at Owensboro Catholic (Sunday)

  1. Cumberland County Panthers 12-4

Outlook: Lance Willen is having an outstanding season at the plate for the Panthers with a .444 batting average, 24 hits, 20 runs, and 28 RBI. Senior Zayne Murphy has a 4-1 record on the mound with 42 strikeouts and a 3.84 ERA. Cumberland County has won eight-straight games heading into Week 6 and will look to continue its streak with a packed week of games that includes a home-and-home with district foe, Clinton County.

Week 6 Games: at Green County (Monday), at Clinton County (Tuesday), Clinton County (Thursday), at Caverna (Friday)

  1. Barren County Trojans 7-10

Outlook: The Trojans make their debut in the ST Power Rankings after picking up a 4-3 victory in Week 5 over Bowling Green. Braxton Jenkins is batting .413 with 12 runs scored and nine RBI for Barren County. Joey Meyers is 2-0 in two starts with 22 strikeouts and 1.75 ERA on the mound. Derrick Alfonso’s club will start district play this week with a home-and-home against Warren East.

Week 6 Games: at Warren East (Monday), at Warren East (Tuesday), Greenwood (Friday)

  1.  Glasgow Scotties 5-9

Outlook: Glasgow nearly knocked off #1 Greenwood in Week 5 before dropping a 4-3 decision. The Scotties rebounded with a 21-10 victory over Monroe County. Zachary Poore leads the team with a .357 batting average, 15 hits, and 10 RBI. Sam Royse’s club begins district play this week with a home-and-home against Allen County-Scottsville.

Week 6 Games: at Allen County-Scottsville (Monday), Allen County-Scottsville (Tuesday), at Greenwood (Thursday), Monroe County (Friday)
