Hornets fight hard, but fall late in season opener

It was a great turnout at Russellville High School on Saturday night, as the Hornets began their season by hosting the Middle Tennessee Storm.

The scoring came early and often for both teams as the Storm jumped out with a 12 point run to take a big lead early.  The Hornets fought back though, and only trailed by 4 at the end of the first.  BG outscored Middle Tennessee in the second and third quarter, but still trailed heading into the fourth 88-89.  The Hornets put together an 11 point run to take their first lead of the half, and held onto it for most of the fourth quarter.  However the Storm scored with 13 seconds left to take a one point lead, and the Hornets were not able to convert in the closing seconds.
An exciting game for sure, and an exciting season coming up for the Hornets continues tomorrow as we travel to Chattanooga to take on the Rail Runners.  We’ll bring you all the action here on the Sporting Times Broadcast Network!
