Hornets keep composure down stretch, keep win streak alive

The Hornets began a two game weekend by hosting the Memphis Soul Kings in Russellville on Saturday night.  It will be the only meeting in the regular season between the two squads, and both were coming off big momentum wins last weekend, with BG beating Middle Tennessee and Memphis besting St Louis.  IMG_7612
The Hornets started off on a hot stretch, and took a five point lead at the break 31-26.  We traded off baskets in the second quarter, and a flurry of points in the final two minutes kept the Hornets up by five 54-49 at the half.  Bowling Green began to extend the lead in the third quarter, as Justin Taylor began to get aggressive on the offensive end, and the Hornets led by ten after the third.  Looking to keep players fresh for tomorrow’s game, Coach Thompson looked to his bench in the fourth quarter, and Michael Stone scored 15 in the fourth quarter alone as BG pushed on to victory 126-112.  Justin Taylor paced the Hornets with 24 points.
We hit the road tomorrow, taking on defending champ St. Louis for a Sunday matinee!  Can the Hornets get over .500 for the first time this season?  Join us around 3 right here on BGHornets.com and find out!
