Taking part in their second game in as many nights, the Purples took on John Hardin in the Bluegrass Cellular New Years Classic. This was the first game of the new year for the Bulldogs, and they came out ready to get revenge for what Bowling Green had done to them on the football field the past 3 years.
John Hardin got the quick start, and lead 17-12 after the first. But the Purples fought back in the second and were able to tie things up heading into the half at 27. John Hardin kept the Purples in check in the third quarter, as Joe Ayers was the only player to score a field goal in the period, and the Bulldogs were up 8 heading into the fourth. Logan Riehn knocked down 2 three pointers to whittle the lead down to four to start the fourth quarter, but that was as close as the Purples would get, and BG falls on the road by the score of 53-44. The loss ends a 10 game win streak for the Purples.
Bowling Green will look to get back to their winning ways with a regional matchup at Barren County on Tuesday, and of course you can catch it right here on PurplesNation.com!
