Kentucky Dominates Indiana in the Inaugural Hall of Fame Challenge Cup

Kentucky teams won four out of five games on Saturday in the inaugural Kentucky-Indiana Challenge Cup event held in email 5630Louisville’s historic Freedom Hall. Action packed games, played furiously for state supremacy, once again filled the “Hall” with great high school basketball. The Elizabethtown boy’s and girl’s teams won their games impressively over their Indiana counterparts, followed by a dominant 20 point win by Covington Catholic. The nightcap games were as good as it gets with two hard fought games played to the wire. The Hopkinsville Tigers fought and clawed their way back from a 12 point halftime deficit to Indianapolis Park Tudor only to be foiled by a 25 foot, three point shot by Indiana’s Trevor Bluett, sending the game into overtime and resulting in Kentucky’s only loss.

 

Ballard and Guerin Catholic battled over 32 minutes before Kentucky’s #1 ranked team pulled away for a for a seven point win. Trevor Bluett of Indiana’s Park Tudor posted a 40 point, 10 rebound game, and Quentin Snider of Louisville Ballard had 25 points and 10 assists, while leading their teams to victories and solidifying Mr. Basketball credentials. Kentucky’s four win – one loss victory margin could have been a clean sweep had it not been for Park Tudor’s miracle shot forcing overtime against Hopkinsville.

 

 

Summary

Great competition between some of the top teams in Kentucky and Indiana, played in iconic Freedom Hall, represented the best qualities of high school basketball. Great teams, coaches, and fans battled across state lines for the chance to carry home the “Cup”.
