The clock hit zeros at Cumberland County High School in overtime with the Lady Panthers ahead 54-49. The Lady Panthers jumped with joy and hugged anyone near. It was a special moment to be a Lady Panther.

The Lady Panthers were led by Danielle Cooper. She scored 15 points, and went 4-6 from the free throw line. Right behind her was seventh grader Abby Morgan, she scored 14 points, and had 10 rebounds. “This win means a lot,” coach Kristen Anderson said after the win “Our girls just wanted it tonight. We were coming off of two wins coming into tonight, and just a lot of confidence.” The Lady Panthers in the previous years have been a struggle, but that made this win for them so much better “Over the last few seasons we have not won very many games,” Anderson said “We always come up on the short end of the deal, and these last few games gave us confidence. The most important thing is we are making memories with these girls is what means the most to me.”

The Lady Hornets are coming off of a three week break due to COVID. The Lady Hornets looked a little rusty, but coach Coffey said “You have to give credit to Cumberland. They came ready to play tonight and they were the better team tonight.” The Lady Hornets had two girls in double figures with 14 points Those girls were Jaycie Harper, and Kassady London. Anna Blythe had a big night on the board with 10 rebounds of her own. “I thought we played a strong first half. Coming back after three weeks off is tough for any team, But we will learn from this loss and move on. A lot of games left to play.”
