Lady Purples start slow, Finish Late for Victory

In the second Semi-Final matchup at Allen County-Scottsville High School, Bowling Green “hosted” Franklin Simpson. The Lady Wildcats pounced on BG out of the gates, starting the game on a 6-0 run off of fast-break layups. Bowling Green struggled shooting the ball in the first half and relied on tenacious defense. Time and time again, the Lady Purples tipped away passes at the top of the Franklin-Simpson offense almost always ending in an Oneisha Turner fast-break lay-in opportunity. Bowling Green chipped away at the Lady Wildcat, eventually cutting it to 27-25 before Megan Krantz buried a three-ball for Franklin-Simpson as the first half buzzer sounded._MG_7255

The Lady Purples used a 5-0 run to start off the second half behind a long-ball from Deija Moore and Keely Vincent’s first bucket of the game. BG would eventually take their first lead of the game at 41-40 behind a tried and true LaVonda Johnson Strategy: defense. Bowling Green ended the game with 17 steals and forced a whopping 25 turnovers while only giving the ball away 11 times. The Lady Purples never relinquished that lead and expanded it out to a 64-56 victory behind late-game free throws from Gabrielle Pruitt.
