Lady Raiders Win Again, Barren Edges Raiders

The Lady Raiders looked to capture their second straight win Tuesday night against Barren County in a region 4 showdown. The game would be competitive in the first half, as Warren East trailed 12-11 after one. The Trojanettes would heat up in the second, outscoring Warren East 17-8 to take the lead at the half 29-19. Baylen Wardlow had 7 for the Lady Raiders; Taylor Davis had 10 for Barren County. In the third quarter the Trojanettes outscored the Lady Raiders 13-4. Defense was key for Barren County, and the shots just were not falling for Warren East. The fourth quarter Warren East would once again get outscored 9-8. Barren County won the game 51-31 and was led by Taylor Davis with 22 points. Baylen Wardlow was the Bluegrass Cellular Player of the Game for the Lady Raiders with 10 points. Warren East (1-11, 0-2 district) will be back at home Friday night in a district matchup against the Lady Gators at 6. The Raiders came into Tuesday night’s rematch against the Trojans trying to avoid their third straight loss. The game would be very close throughout, much like the first one was. The Raiders jumped out to a first quarter lead 16-11. Kaleb Britt had 9 for Warren East; Wade Coomer had 7 for Barren County. The second quarter the Trojans would heat up on offense, outscoring the Raiders 26-19 to take a 37-35 lead into the half. Kaleb Britt had 13 to lead the Raiders; Wade Coomer had 18 for the Trojans. In the third quarter Barren County outscored Warren East 21-11 to build a 12 point cushion after three, 58-46. The fourth quarter saw Warren East trying to make a comeback, but it fell short because every run was answered by a big Trojan bucket. The Raiders would fall 77-72 at home for three straight losses. Wade Coomer led Barren County with 26. Kaleb Britt was the Bluegrass Cellular Player of the Game for the Raiders with 28 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 assist.
