It didn’t take long for the South Warren Volleyball program to win the school’s first ever District Championship. The young program started in 2010 when South Warren opened and the volleyball program has continued to improve each year.
In 2013, the young Lady Spartans grab the attention of the 4th region by pushing the favorite Logan County Lady Cougars (33-7) to a five game 4th Region Championship match that would end in a 15-13 loss in game five for the Lady Spartans.
The loss in the 4th Region Championship game in 2013 did nothing but give more confidence to a team that was on the rise and today leads the 4th region standing in with a record of (27-7).
South Warren Lady Spartans (27-7) were all smiles by the end of the 14th District Championship match, defeating the Greenwood Lady Gators (19-15) 3-1 to claim their first District Championship.
The Lady Spartans won the first two games 25-16, 25-18, losing game three 21-25, and then winning game four 25-13 to claim their 14th District Crown.
The Lady Spartans swept Greenwood in the regular season 3-2, 3-0 as both teams advance to the 4th Region Championship tournament next week.
Joining the Lady Spartans and Gators will be 15th District Champions Monroe County Lady Falcons (22-5) and runner up Allen County Scottsville Lady Patriots (17-9).
Out of the 13th District, Champions Logan County Lady Cougars (20-17) and runner-up Franklin-Simpson (13-13) will join the 16th District Champions Russell County Lady Lakers (22-7) and runner-up Clinton County Lady Bulldogs (12-13) rounding out the 4th Region tournament field.
