Lady Spartans Defeat Lady Raiders Move to 22-4

Fletcher Keel:

For the second time in as many nights, the South Warren Lady Spartans scored 70 points on their way to an easy victory. This time, it came against district foe Warren East as the Lady Spartans finished regular-season district play 7-1, thanks to a 79-13 win on senior night at South Warren.

From the opening tip off to the final buzzer, the Lady Spartans had complete and total control. South Warren scored the first nine points of the game before Warren East’s Cailyn Howard hit a three pointer for the first points for the Lady Raiders, but the Spartans would cruise to a 25-4 lead after the first quarter and a halftime lead of 38-7.

The only sort of groove the Lady Raiders were able to get into came in the opening minute of the third quarter, when Day Bibb scored the first four points of the second half, but it didn’t last long as the Lady Spartans put a quick end to offensive rythm and point points up themselves, and cruised to the 79-13 final.

In the second half, Amaya Lasley became just the second ever member of the 1,000 point club for Lady Spartans basketball, on her way to a game-high 19 points. Caroline Cowles also scored in double figures, as she had 15.

The Lady Spartans were tenacious inside the paint, and knocked out just about every pass the Lady Raiders tried to send into the lane in the first half to help build the large lead.

The Lady Spartans improve to 22-4 on the season and will take their show on the road Thursday for the second game of the season against Franklin-Simpson. You’ll be able to hear all the action right here at GoSpartanNation.com.
