Less than two weeks removed from their surprise loss to John    Hardin, the LaRue County Lady Hawks season once again took a surprise turn with a big 65-58 win over No.1 ranked Elizabethtown in front of a packed gym and a playoff type atmosphere. Although to some the Lady Hawks win was an upset, but last season coach Travis Wootton’s team beat the Lady Panthers 49-39 in January for its first win in the series since 1994-1995. That victory was at LaRue County. This one was at Charles Rawlings Gym in Elizabethtown where Coach Tim Mudd’s team rarely tastes defeat and it took a superior effort to do it as the Lady Hawks had to overcome a 13-4 deficit early and a great performance by Erin Boley, who had a game high 29-points and 14-rebounds.

After taking a 33-25 halftime lead, LaRue County fell behind 43-41 with a little over a minute left in the third quarter, but then LaRue County countered with a 12-0 run to recapture and hold the lead for good. The Lady Hawks were led by senior Ivy Brown, who had 27-points and 18-rebounds. LaRue County became only the second 5th Region team to beat Elizabethtown consecutively (Marion County is the other) in the last eight years and one of the few to do so in the Lady Panthers hone floor. The loss was only the second for Elizabethtown to an instate opponent.
