Louisville Bats Silence the Cubs

Perform like a champion. The Louisville Bats played an excellent game to beat the Iowa Cubs, 3-0, on Pride night at Slugger Stadium. Although the Bats are in last place in their division, Wednesday’s outing shows the winning potential of this team. Only fourteen games separate Nashville at 40-28 and the Bats at 26-43. Eight teams are between in a tight race for the INT West. The Bats remain the best value in sports, and Wednesday night’s crowd of 5,800 fans experienced a true major league performance.

The Cubs only allowed five hits, with the Bats limiting Iowa to only six hits. Iowa utilized only three pitchers, while the bats went heavy into the rotation. Nick Lodolo pitched four innings of tightly controlled ball, only allowing two hits. Lodolo’s accuracy is improving with every outing. His pitch location was tight, with five strikeouts in four innings. Lodolo started the night with a nearly 8 ERA, reducing it to 3 after his outstanding performance. The Bats were tenacious on offense, making all five hits count against excellent pitching. Records are not always indicative of potential. If the Bats can continue to shut opponents down, they can start climbing the division ladder. They have the tools and the talent.
