Mid-South Conference and Bowling Green Independent School District partner

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Mid-South Conference Commissioner Eric Ward announced today the addition of the Bowling Green Independent School District as a Community Partner and a host for several conference championships.

The announcement came today at a press conference on the Bowling Green High School campus.
“We are so excited about our partnership with the Bowling Green Independent School District,” Ward said. “After signing an extension this summer to keep the bulk of our championships in the Bowling Green area for the next seven years, we eagerly searched for a home for a number of our championships and the Bowling Green Independent School District welcomed us with open arms.

“Their facilities and hospitality will make our championships the first-class experience our student-athletes and coaches deserve,” Ward added. “Bowling Green is the home of the Mid-South Conference and we could not be more thrilled to work hand-in-hand with the Bowling Green Independent School District.”

Several Mid-South Conference championships are slated to be contested at Bowling Green Independent School District facilities in 2018-19 including cheerleading, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s volleyball, and women’s wrestling. Additionally, the men’s and women’s junior varsity basketball tournaments will be played at Bowling Green High as part of the MSC’s championship calendar.

“We look forward to hosting Mid-South Conference Championships in our facilities,” Bowling Green Independent School District Superintendent Gary Fields said. “Our new partnership offers opportunities for local students and our community to both attend and support several collegiate teams. This partnership also offers potential scholarships for BGHS students who choose to attend Mid-South Conference member schools.”

Twenty Mid-South Conference championships will be contested in the Bowling Green area in 2018-19 along with the conference’s annual summer staff meeting.

In addition to the championships at the Bowling Green Independent School District venues, baseball will be played at Bowling Green Ballpark, men and women’s bowling at Southern Lanes, men and women’s cross country at Phil Moore Park, men and women’s golf at the Bowling Green Country Club, softball at Michael O. Buchanon Park, and men and women’s tennis at Kereiakes Park.

Already this year, the Mid-South has hosted the Art Sciubba Cross Country Invitational meet at Phil Moore Park and the Mid-South Volleyball Invitational at Ephram White Gymnasium.

The Mid-South Conference includes eight full members and 25 affiliate members in 12 states.
