Purples Close Out Regular Season with Convincing Win Over McCracken County

As the Purples prep for the Postseason, they faced a challenge that differed from any they had seen this season, as McCracken County sported a very athletic and potent offense, led by a QB with over 1700 yards and a running back committed to UK.  The Purples D would be up to the task.
After winning the toss, the Mustangs elected to take the first possession.  As they were driving into Purple territory, a high snap led to a recovered fumble by the Purples defense.  Jamale Carothers would pace the offense throughout the night, and got things started with a one yard TD run.  McCracken County would answer with a quick touchdown drive, capped by a Zayaire Hughes 27 yard run.  But the Purples offense would keep their rhythm, and get another score for Carothers.  Another big play for the Purples D came near the end of the first, as Tre Fant would intercept Cash Jones at midfield and take it all the way to the house, putting the Purples up 21-7 at the end of one.  The second quarter would go scoreless until the final minute, until Clark Payne found DeAngelo Wilson from five yards out for the score with 19 seconds remaining.  Purples would squib kick, and Luke Brown dove on the loose ball to give the Purples another shot at points before the break.  A 30 yard field goal for Lee Ramsey put Bowling Green up 31-14.
The Purples milked the clock for the first part of the third quarter, taking six minutes off the clock before Wilson would run it in from seven yards away.  The Mustangs would get one final score, as Hughes would end his big night with his second touchdown run.  More clock control by the Purples offense would carry this game to its conclusion, and BG gets a big win.  Final score, Bowling Green 38, McCracken Co 14.  Jamale Carothers had 25 carries for 107 yard and 2 touchdowns. DeAngelo Wilson also had 2 TDs, one receiving and one rushing.
Playoffs start next week as Bowling Green hosts Apollo!  Can BG make it back to Houchens Smith Stadium?  Join us at SportingTimesMagazine.com to find out!
