Looking at the final full week of the regular season, the Purples traveled to Logan County for a big regional matchup. The Cougars have been a tough team at home this season, and they made certainly made it tough for Bowling Green on Monday night.
The Purples used an eight point run in the first quarter to jump out to the early lead, but the Cougars would come back, outscoring the Purples in the second and third quarter. A 7-1 run at the end of the half made it a five point game at the break 36-31. Logan County would then get the third quarter going with an 8-2 run, taking the lead from Bowling Green. We would trade scores for the remainder of the period, with BG scoring the last four points, taking 52-49 lead into the fourth. It remained close to the final minutes, but the Purples would force some key turnovers late, and make free throws down the stretch to claim the 77-69 victory! Kyran Jones came off the bench tonight to lead the Purples with 23 points. Terry Taylor followed with 15, and Perry Ayers reached double figures with 10.
Back in action tomorrow night, and the Purples and Lady Purples host Owensboro. Make sure you catch all the action right here on PurplesNation.com!
