The Purples and Lady Purples hosted Greenwood on Friday night, hoping to remain undefeated in District play.
The Lady Purples took to the floor first, and wasted no time in building an early lead against the Lady Gators. Using their uptempo style and agressive full court defense, Bowling Green had the running clock going early. Keely Vincent had 18 points in the first half, and BG led at the break 46-14. The Lady Purples continued to outscore Greenwood in each quarter, and won big 79-42. Oneisha Turner led the Lady Purples with 26 points on the night.
Then the crowd started to roll in, and the students sections began to get pumped for the matchup between the Purples and the Gators. Greenwood got the early jump on Bowling Green, and led the Purples until the second quarter, where Bowling Green used a 14-2 run to take a 31-27 lead into the half. Tucker Sine came out strong in the third, grabbing a quick 5 points and continued to be aggressive on both sides of the floor. Foul trouble came back to hurt Greenwood in the end, as most of their post presence for the Gators fouled out of the game, and Clay Stivers was able to have a big fourth quarter leading the Purples to a 72-64 victory. Tucker Sine led the Purples with 19.
Both teams will have a full week before their next game, when Warren Central will travel across town for a major 14th District matchup on Friday, January 17th. Be sure to join us for all the action right here on PurplesNation.com!
