Purples hit the road to face PRP

Bowling Green will travel to Louisville Pleasure Ridge park on Friday night looking to build on their 28-game win streak.

The Purples are coming off of a 42-7 season-opening win over North Hardin in last Saturday’s Rafferty’s Bowl.

Stepping in as the starter in place of recently graduated Clark Payne, junior quarterback Beau Buchanan tossed two touchdown passes, completing 18 of 26 passes for 239 yards.

Buchanan spread the wealth, as Ziyon Kenner caught six passes for 92 yards and a touchdown and Nash Hightower hauled in two passes for 48 yards and a score while running for another touchdown.

Sophomore Vito Tisdale took over the running back position for Bowling Green following the graduation of all-time Purple leading rusher Jamale Carothers. Tisdale tallied nine carries for 61 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

The Trojans’ offense, who moved the ball well in the first quarter, was kept in check by the Purples’ defense throughout the remainder of the game, totaling 239 total yards and only seven points.

Senior linebacker and Georgia Tech commit Justice Dingle led the Purple defense with eight tackles while Devan Jackson tallied seven tackles and a fumble recovery. Miles Smith and Davis Tomblinson both had interceptions.

The explosive Panthers opened their season with a 41-6 win over Valley.
