Purples Impressive on Defense, Roll to First Round Win

After missing out on the Regional Tournament last year, Bowling Green didn’t waste any time making their presence felt in this year’s tourney.IMG_6954IMG_2406

Nacarius Fant knocked down two 3-pointer early in the contest, helping the Purples separate themselves from the Franklin Simpson Wildcats 22-9 in the first quarter.  The Wildcats played close in the second, but the Purples were still able to build their lead to 16 at the half.  In the locker room, Coach Sherrill challenged his team to step it up on the defensive end, and boy did BG deliver.  Franklin Simpson would only score 2 field goals in the second half (shooting only 11% from the field), and Bowling Green would have a running clock by the end of the third quarter.  Their 77-33 win marks their largest margin of victory in tournament play since 1973.  Fant led the Purples with 18 points.
The Purples will be back on the floor on Monday, but the Lady Purples are back in action tomorrow night, taking on Franklin Simpson!  Will Bowling Green sweep Franklin Simpson out of postseason play?  Tune in tomorrow on PurplesNation.com to find out!
