purples1With district seeding on the line, Bowling Green hosted Warren Central for a district doubleheader on Friday night. The Lady Purples can put themselves in the driver’s seat with a win tonight, while the Purples are looking for revenge.

When the Lady Purples and Lady Dragons met two weeks ago, points were sparse, as BG won 44-40. That would not be the case tonight, as the Lady Purples started the game with a quick 9-0 run. The Lady Dragons would make a comeback after a timeout from Coach Hood, but Bowling Green would stretch it back out to a nine point game at the end of the first. Both team shot extremely well in the second quarter, as both teams scored 22 points in the period. Bowling Green led at the half 41-32. TaMia Matthews paced the Lady Purples with 16. Tia Barnett kept the Lady Dragons in the game with 15. The hot streak would continue for the Lady Purples in the second half, as they pushed their lead out to 20 at one point. But the Lady Dragons did not give up, continuing to drive to rim till the final buzzer. Lady Purples ride their lead all the way to the end, defeating the Lady Dragons 81-75. TaMia Matthews led the way with 26 points. Oneisha Turner followed up with 24. Deija Moore was deadly from three, and had 17 in the win.

The Purples started off much like the Lady Purples did, shooting out to a nine point lead to get things started. The Dragons wouldn’t let it get too out of hand, and quickly found the lead. Things would go back and forth in the second quarter, and the Purples would trail at the half 33-35. BG would start off hot in the third quarter, knocking down four shots from downtown. The run early in the third would give the Purples a lead they would not relinquish. Making free throw down the stretch, the Purples would go on to win 69-57. Tucker Sine put in four from beyond the arc en route to 23 points. Terry Taylor showed some outside range to reach 13, and Perry Ayers reached double figures with 11.
