Purples Surge Late to Best Doss in King of the Bluegrass

As a highly ranked team early last season, the Purples were upset by Fern Creek in the first round of the King of the Bluegrass. The looked to avoid that same fate this year, facing last year’s state runner up Doss in the opening round.

Bowling Green came out firing in the first quarter, but Doss had a runner of their own to close out the opening act, and the Purples led after one 20-14.  But then both teams went cold from the field, as Doss outscored the Purples in the second 10-5, but the Purples held on to the lead heading into the break 25-24.  Bowling Green’s defense stayed strong in the third, holding Doss to just three points in the period. However it was still a close game going in to the fourth quarter.   Both teams caught fire late, as the fourth quarter opened up with five 3-pointers (3 for Bowling Green, 2 for Doss). Zion Harmon made some more key shots late, and Terry Taylor started to show his dominance down low, and the Purples pulled away to a ten point win 60-50.  Zion Harmon led BG with 21 points. Terry Taylor notched a double-double, with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Bowling Green will face Ballard in the next round of the King of the Bluegrass.  That game is set for 7:30 ET/6:30 CT, and you can catch it LIVE on STBNTV.COM!
