Hopping back into Region play this week, the Purples and Lady Purples traveled up to Barren County on Tuesday night. Both teams looking to bounce back from losses over the weekend.
Lady Purples would start off slow offensively, but defense kept the Lady Purples in control in the first half. In fact, Bowling Green would have two players who individually outscored the Trojanettes in the first half, as Keely Vincent had 12 and Oneisha Turner had 11. Lady Purples went on a 12 point run in the second quarter, and led at the half 31-10. The second half was more of the same for Bowling Green, as they would extend the lead out to 30 on multiple occasions. Barren County would not score a field goal in the fourth quarter, and BG cruised to victory 57-24. Oneisha Turner led all scorers with 17. Keely Vincent had 15.
Then it was time for the fellas to take the floor. This was a matchup between two of the top five teams on the region, and BG set out to prove they are ready to defend their region title. The Purples jumped out to a 19-6 lead in the first quarter, using the full court press to fluster the Trojan guards. They kept the momentum in the second, and carried a 24 point lead into the half 45-21. Bowling Green would use the second half to look at some different things defensively and rotation wise, but BG would cruise to victory 69-49. Tucker Sine led the way with 22 points, nine of which came from three point land.
Purples hit district play again on Friday, as we head to the swamp to take on Greenwood. Catch both games right here on PurplesNation.com!
