Purples win 7th straight vs Central behind Defense and Runnin’

Looking to start up a new win streak, the Purples hosted Warren Central.  Once again, the defense came up big, and was able to keep the Dragons at bay for most of the game.

The Purples began the night with a great return by Tre Fant, setting up Bowling Green in Dragon territory. A few plays later, Clark Payne would find Jamale Carothers on a screen play that would go 40 yards, and put the Purples up 7-0.  The BG defense would make themselves known early, forcing a safety after a high snap.  Lee Ramsey would get in on the scoring with a 22 yard field goal, and to top off the first quarter, Payne would find Deangelo Wilson for the six yard TD pass. At the end of one, it was BG 19, Warren Central 0.

The Dragons would take a drive deep into Purple territory to start the second quarter, but Tyler Stahl would make two huge back to back plays to force a turnover on downs.  Two plays later.  Bowling Green dusted off the playbook and found Carothers on the hook and ladder for 96 yards and the score. That would leave the Purple up 25-0 at the break.

Both teams go scoreless in the third. Purples forcing several turnovers, including Tre Fant’s fifth interception in 5 games.  Carothers would get one more score, a 50 yard scamper to the end zone.  Warren Central would not be shut be though, as Chance Shanklin would find Steven McIntyre for the 20 yard score.  Final Tally in favor of the Purples 32-7.
