Reflections

by  Carly Jones

Going into my senior year, I was so excited for all the exciting times and memories that were going to be made. Throughout the year, I was really cruising along, waiting for softball season to come around. It was finally time to start preparing for the best season of my life. It was our time to finally break in our new field, wear our new pinstripe uniforms and make a run for the District Championship. But, unfortunately, the last half of high school went to being online and spring sports was cancelled. We had so much to look forward to this season and just like that, it was ripped away from our fingers. Even though our season didn’t exist, our coaches still gave us  our senior night ceremony we had been waiting for. Walking out on the field, wearing a T-shirt instead of our jersey top was a bitter sweet feeling. It finally gave me the closure of my high school career, but still had me thinking of what could have happened this season.

Carly Jones played varsity for the Bethlehem Banshees softball team and will continue playing college softball at Midway, but she and her senior teammates never got to play on their NEW softball field which opened this season.
