Dear Tennis

I decided that writing to you, rather than about you seemed more fitting. Over time, you have become a number of things to me: a companian, confidant, teacher. You are no longer just a sport, but an impressionist of my life.

I have never expected to love a sport more fiercely. As a matter of fact, this was an activity I took on to occupy my time as I took a break from another sport. Instead, I found myself just as involved and passionate as with running. While I have plenty of regrets-things such as, “ If only I had worked just a little harder”- I’ve realized something much more valuable. Work hard while you have the chance, because in a single second that might change. You are a sport of mentality that has forced me to mature and grow both on and off the court. You helped create another family and brought upon memories that I will forever cherish. I could talk for hours how you have molded me and shaped me into who I am, but in the end, all I can say is thank you. I wish I could have had a better goodbye, but maybe it’s best with a bitter sweet ending
