Raiders Trio Run Wild in Big Win over Falcons

Arnett rolled left, pitched to Phillips and then a helmet to the ball drove the pigskin out of the running back’s hands into the paws of Raider defender Anthony Kelsey. Kelsey ran the opposite way, streaking up the sideline for a 65 yard fumble recovery touchdown.

In a night where Eli Brown, Antonio Shields, and Willie Reynolds combined for 340 yards rushing and 5 TDs, LB Anthony Kelsey was the differences. IMG_0912 (800x659)

He added a blocked punt and a sack on 3rd down as well as key blocking from the full back position. “We aren’t very good without Kelsey.” Defensive Coordinator Richard Stonebreaker said after the game in an interview with GoRaiderNation.

After Monroe County followed a blocked punt in the first quarter with an 18-yard strike from QB Lincoln Arnett to WR Ty Mink, Warren East rattled off 36 unanswered points.

Eli Brown scored two times and Willie Reynolds crossed the goal line twice himself to go along with Kelsey’s defensive TD.

Willie Reynolds tallied 133 yards on 12 carries (11 yards per carry). This marked the second game in row where Reynolds totaled over one-hundred yards and multiple scores in the third quarter alone.

Antonio Shields, who was pivotal in setting up both of Eli Brown’s first half TDs, received his due when he took hand-off 8-yards up the middle for his first score of the game.

Down 36-7, Falcon Lincoln Arnett rolled right, came back left and threw off his back foot for a 26-yard TD to Kale Rich. Arnett made plenty of off-balance plays but in the second half without one of his leading receivers Ty Mink, he struggled against the pressure of the Raiders. Mink left the game after a fall during halftime on concrete by the West end zone.

Warren East finished on top by a score of 43-21 in a game that Stonebreaker called a ‘sloppy win’ and said that he could have easily seen his team with upwards of 50 points if they had kept playing fundamentally sound football for four quarters.

Warren East travels to Ohio County on September 12th.
