Region Recap: Purples 58 – Clinton County 47

By Joe Brunk:

Looking to repeat as Region Champs, the Purples began their run through Diddle with a matchup against Clinton County. The last time these two teams met, it was the region semifinals in 2010, which the Purples won handily. Clinton County would do everything they could to ensure it wouldn’t be another blowout tonight.

Bowling Green would hit the scoreboard first, a quick three from Tucker Sine. But Keifer Dalton would score on his first two possessions as well. Bowling Green would then go on a 10-2 run, a different Purple scoring each basket. But Clinton County would get the final four points of the period to keep it close 14-9 after 1. The Bulldogs would notch a few runs in the second quarter, as they continued to control the pace of the game. But Bowling Green would not give up the lead, and scored seven of the last ten points to take a lead into the break 31-23. The Bulldogs would again threaten in the third, bringing it to within two points on a few occasions, but the Purples would hold the lead throughout the game, and make free throws late to advance to the second round with a 58-47 victory! Tucker Sine led the Purples with 14 points. Terry Taylor had 10 and a ton of rebounds to be named the Player of the Game.

Bowling Green will take on Barren County in the semifinals on Monday night. Catch all the action right here on PurplesNation.com!
