Allen County-Scottsville’s boys’ and girls’ teams dominated over the three-day stretch that was the South Central Bank-Halton Classic on their home floor in Scottsville.
The teams both finished 3-0 and reached the 10-win mark. The girls’ team won all three of their games – which were not set in a bracket format – while the boys’ team won the championship in the tournament on Saturday evening.
Below are recaps and statistics from Saturday’s action in the South Central Bank-Halton Classic.
Boys: Henderson County 73, Todd County Central 45
After two days of offensive struggles, Henderson County rebounded by hitting 12-of-28 3-pointers in a 73-45 win over Todd County Central.
The Rebels fought back to cut Henderson’s lead to 50-41 at the 6:54 mark of the fourth quarter, but the Colonels (8-5) ended the game on a 23-4 run to seal seventh place in the weekend tournament.
Holden Raley led Henderson in scoring with 18 points while Daymian Dixon added 16 points for the Colonels. Todd Central (5-10) got 15 points and 11 rebounds from 6-8 center John Calvery.
The Rebels hit the road next Friday evening for a district match-up with Franklin-Simpson. Henderson County travels to Muhlenberg County next Friday.

Franklin-Simpson grabbed its second win of the tournament in an emotional 56-44 win over Lexington Sayre, finishing fifth in the weekend tournament.
The Wildcats were able to lock down the fifth place spot despite a furious rally by the Spartans (2-10), who pulled within eight in the fourth quarter.
Dayveon Harris and DeMarco Chatman each scored 13 points to lead Franklin-Simpson (6-7) while Andreyous Miller added 10 points. Will Hairston exploded for 27 points for Sayre.
Franklin-Simpson returns home to host Todd County Central next Friday in a District 13 match-up. Sayre returns home to host Henry Clay on Wednesday.

Girls: Logan County 78, Nelson County 53
Logan County shot 50 percent from the field and Sarah Beth Hale scored 32 points as the Lady Cougars finished off their weekend in the South Central Bank-Halton Classic with a 78-53 win over Nelson County.
After leading just 34-31 at the halftime break, the Lady Cougars (7-4) outscored the Lady Cardinals 44-22 over the last two quarters of the contest.
Hale’s 32 points was followed up by a 16-point performance from Addie White, who hit five 3-pointers. Kennedy Nichols pulled down eight rebounds for the Lady Cougars.
The Lady Cardinals (1-11) were led in scoring by Macy Runner, who had 20 points, and Zaria Burton, who added 16.
Logan County will go on the road to cross-town rival Russellville for a District 13 match-up next Friday. Nelson County will host Bardstown in a 19th District match-up next Friday.

Sarah Sutton scored 26 points and broke the school’s rebound record as Allen County-Scottsville nabbed a 55-44 win over Covington Holmes, capping off a 3-0 performance in the Halton Classic.
Sutton passed Savannah Gregory on the school’s all-time list and now has 1,007 rebounds in her career. The senior pulled down 15 boards in Saturday’s game.
Mason Towery followed Sutton’s performance with 12 points for the Lady Patriots (11-3) while Taylor Carter added eight points. Kamari Graham scored 11 points to lead Holmes (3-9).
ACS goes on the road to face Monroe County in next Friday’s District 15 match-up. The Lady Bulldogs travel to face Scott on Jan. 7.

Chase Luckett hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with approximately 10 seconds left in overtime to give Daviess County a 59-58 win over Greenwood to claim third place in the Halton Classic.
The Gators (6-6) were not able to overcome the shooting of the Panthers despite outrebounding Daviess (5-7) by a 31-19 margin.
Dakota Walden led the Panthers with 25 points in the win while Mason Payne added 10 points. Ben Carroll scored 23 points for Greenwood while Noah Stansbury added 11.
Greenwood returns home to host Bowling Green in a District 14 match-up next Friday. Daviess County travels to Apollo next Friday.

In a neck-in-neck game throughout its entirety, Allen County-Scottsville survived a hungry Owensboro Catholic team, 72-71, to win the South Central Bank-Halton Classic on their home floor.
Despite shooting 51.7 percent from the floor, the Aces (9-3) were just edged by the defense of the Patriots, who forced 14 turnovers and scored 13 points off of turnovers to Catholic’s three.
Mason Shirley scored 22 points to lead ACS (12-2). The Patriots also saw 17 points from Owen Stamper, 15 points from Brett Rippy – who joined the 1,000-point club – and 12 points from Jax Cooper off of the bench.
Payton Survant scored 17 points to lead the Aces while John Parker and Ty Vincent added 16 and 12 points, respectively.
ACS hits the road to face Monroe County next Friday while Owensboro Catholic will host Owensboro next Friday.
