South Warren vs. Marshall County concluded the State Farm Shootout on Saturday evening at South Warren High School.
Coming off a 61-41 home loss to Bowling Green on Jan. 10, the Spartans would be looking to turn things around. That wouldn’t be the case, though, as Marshall County came into Spartan Gym and beat South, 70-45.
Bryce Flatt scored 8 points for the Marshals while Tyler Martin paced the Spartans with 12.
South Warren (4-14) returns to action on Tuesday night against Warren Central at 7:30 p.m.
The Marshals won the opening tipoff and quickly jumped out to a 9-0 lead over South Warren, who couldn’t seem to get anything going on either side of the ball. However, South Warren went on to outscore Marshall County throughout the remainder of the opening quarter, but trailed 14-6 heading into the second.
In the ensuing quarter, Marshall County added 27 more points to its side of the scoreboard compared to the Spartans’ 10, as it read 41-16 at halftime. After two quarters, Flatt led the Marshals with 8 points while Martin had 12 for South Warren.
Marshall County would continue to control the flow of the game throughout the second half and recorded a big victory over the Spartans to end the five-game event.
