The South Warren Lady Spartans improved to 21-4 on the season after traveling to Todd County Central High School and walking out with a blowout victory of 70-37 over the Lady Rebels.
It was actually TCCHS who got out to the quick start, scoring the first five points of the ball game as the Lady Spartans had trouble finding the bottom of the net in the opening few minutes. But, towards the closing minutes of the first quarter, the Lady Spartans went on an 11-2 run on their way to a 17-12 lead at the end of the first quarter.
After that, the Lady Spartans took complete and total control of the game, especially after the halftime break (in which South Warren entered with a 39-24 lead), as they jumped out to a 53-31 lead after three quarters and were in cruise control until the final buzzer sounded.
Caroline Cowles lead all Lady Spartans in scoring with 17, but Amaya Lasley didn’t go unnoticed either with 16 of her own. Only one Lady Rebel reached double figures in Jayde Robinson, who had 11.
The loss sends Todd County Central to their seventh in a row, while South Warren hasn’t dropped a contest since losing at home to Warren Central.

Spartans Defeat Todd County Central
What better time to heat up than the end of the season? Thats exactly what the South Warren Spartans are doing, as they won their second game in a row by defeating the Todd County Central Rebels 72-62 to climb within a game of .500 in their record.
The tides turned with 2:22 to play in the first half, when Todd County Central called timeout, at the time down by double figures, but then went on a run that put them within one point of the Spartans, but an old-fashion three-point play by Brandon Stacker put the Spartans back up by four, but the Rebels would make it a two-point game at halftime on a Javon Byars layup as the buzzer sounded.
The Rebels and Spartans would trade points to open the third quarter, but South would go on a tear to close the quarter and lead 52-46. However, to start the fourth, the Rebels would again make it a close ball game, as they relied on the three-point shooting of Bradely Case to get back into the ball game.
Luckily for the Spartans, they had a big enough lead and enough confidence to never surrender a lead, and walk out of TCCHS with a 10 point win.
Leading the Spartans in scoring was Dayton Gumm, as he picked up right where he left off Friday against Greenwood, as he went for 12 in the first half and 22 overall. Brandon Stacker wasn’t far behind, as he tallied 17, and Marquise Walker also joined the double-figures club with 15.
The 10 point winning margin seems like a lot, but the Rebels went into “foul mode” with about 90 seconds left, and the Spartans relied on tremendous free throw shooting to provide the final separation.
