Sporting Times All-Region Preseason Watchlist

These 19 players from the 4th Region have been identified as possible All-Region players based on previous seasons’ play and the outlook for 2021. Players do not have to be on the preseason watchlist to be named All-Region by the Sporting Times at the end of the season.

Turner Buttry, Bowling Green Junior

Buttry will kick off his junior season looking to pick off where he left off in 2020. The EKU commit averaged 10.9 points per game and shot 48.2% from three-point land with 55 made three-pointers.

Jace Carver, Warren Central Senior

Carver averaged 14.8 points per game in 2019-20 playing for South Warren. He will finish up his career at Warren Central looking to lead the Dragons to a fourth-consecutive region championship.

Jax Cooper, Allen County-Scottsville Senior

Cooper was the Patriots’ second-leading scorer at 12.4 points per game while grabbing over four rebounds a contest as well. He will begin his senior campaign hoping to get AC-S back to Diddle for a run in the region tournament.

Boston Devore, Metcalfe County Senior

Devore is coming off of a 2019-20 season in which the guard averaged 18.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game and was named second team All-Region.

Peyton Dial, Metcalfe County Junior

Dial will look to build off of a solid sophomore season in which the guard averaged 14.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest. Dial also nailed 74 three-pointers which led the Hornets last season.

Marc Grant, Greenwood Senior

The Gators will turn to Grant to pick up where he left off in 2020. The senior averaged 10 points last season, nailing 70 three-pointers at 35%.

Scott Hamm, Russell County Senior

Hamm led the Lakers in both scoring and rebounding last season, averaging 14.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. The forward also shot 53.3% from the field.

Tayshaun Jones, South Warren Senior

Jones averaged 9.6 points and 4.1 rebounds for the Spartans a season ago. The senior guard hit nearly 80% of his free throws with over 100 attempts.

Isaiah Mason, Bowling Green Senior

Mason, a returning first team All-Region talent, returns for his senior season after averaging 16.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per contest. His production makes him a trendy pick to win 4th Region Player of the Year honors this season.

Kaleb Matlock, Warren East Junior

Warren East’s Kaleb Matlock will look to continue off of his strong sophomore campaign when he averaged 10.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Andreyous Miller, Franklin-Simpson Senior

Miller averaged 13.2 points per game for the Wildcats as the program qualified for the 4th Region Tournament after finishing as runners-up of the 13th District Tournament. Miller also averaged 3.9 rebounds per contest.

Aden Nyekan, Barren County Junior

Nyekan will look to pick up where he left off in 2020 when he averaged 16.9 points and 7.0 rebounds to lead the Trojans to a 15th District championship. He was also named first team All-Region.

Mason Shirley, Allen County-Scottsville Senior

Shirley was named an All-Region performer a season ago after averaging 16.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. He and Jax Cooper – both senior – will look to lead the Patriots to their first district title since 2010.

Chase Stines, Clinton County Senior

Stines averaged 15.3 points and 4.8 rebounds a season ago to lead the Bulldogs to another 16th District championship while reaching the 4th Region semifinals. The guard also got to the lines nearly 350 times, posting a 72.4% from the charity stripe.

Cade Stinnett, Greenwood Junior

Stinnett broke out in his sophomore season, averaging 15.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He got to the free throw line 218 times and shot over 70%. Stinnett was named second team All-Region.

Kyjuan Stutzman, Franklin-Simpson Senior

Stutzman led the Wildcats in scoring last season at 14.8 points per game. The guard also made 69 three-pointers and led Franklin-Simpson at 35% from beyond the arc.

Jaquis Todd, Russellville Senior

Todd averaged 15.7 points per game last season for the Panthers while grabbing 4.1 rebounds per contest. The guard made 54 three-pointers and shot 37.2% from the field.

Caden Veltkamp, South Warren Junior

Veltkamp will be asked to play a larger role for first-year head coach Jason Holland in 2021. As a sophomore, the forward averaged 8.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

Anthony Woodard, Logan County Senior

Woodard led the Cougars in scoring a season ago at 13.7 points per game while averaging 6.3 rebounds. Woodard’s efforts helped him earn first team All-Region honors on the year.
