  1. Warren Central 3-0 1

Outlook: Warren Central breezed through its first two opponents, Barren County and Goodpasture Christian, by a combined 67 points. In the opening victory, Kade Unseld led the Dragons with 20 points. Chappelle Whitney averaged 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in the two wins. Central – yet to play a home game – traveled to Owensboro on Monday night (80-41 victory) and will now partake in the Kentucky Straight Apparel Classic at Bardstown High on Saturday when it faces Louisville Western.

  1. Bowling Green 2-0 2

Outlook: The Purples eked out two road wins in Week 1 – defeating Henderson County in double overtime, 77-74, and Todd County Central, 54-48. MJ Wardlow led the way for BG with 21 points on 6-of-9 shooting against the Colonels. Mason Ritter scored 16 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in the Purples’ victory over the Rebels of Todd County Central. Coach D.G. Sherrill’s club is on the road thrice more in Week 2 with true road games against Elizabethtown (Tuesday) and Hopkinsville (Friday) before participating in the Don Franklin Barren Hoops Classic on Saturday when they take on North Laurel.

  1. Warren East 2-0 5

Outlook: Warren East propelled to #3 in our rankings after picking up a 65-60 road win at then-#3 Metcalfe County. Isaiah Andrews exploded for 34 points and seven rebounds in the victory. The senior followed up his performance with a 28-point, 14-rebound showing in a 74-40 blowout over Logan County. The Raiders return to action for their home opener on Friday night when they will host Barren County. On Saturday afternoon, coach Kyle Benge’s club plays Daviess County in the Sparty Classic at South Warren.

  1.  Franklin-Simpson 2-0 4

Outlook: Franklin-Simpson picked up two wins in Week 1, defeating Monroe County and Clinton County – both at home. The Wildcats now travel to South Warren on Tuesday and to Allen County-Scottsville on Friday. DeMarcus Hogan is averaging 19 points per game, while Jalen Briscoe is averaging ten points and eight rebounds per contest.

  1. Metcalfe County 1-2 3

Outlook: Metcalfe County stumbled out of the gate, losing its first two games to Warren East and Butler County. However, the Hornets rebounded with a 83-59 home win over Allen County-Scottsville. Now they set their sights on two district games in Week 2 as Cumberland County travels to Edmonton on Thursday, before Metcalfe goes to play Clinton County on Friday. Jax Allen and Wyatt Blythe picked up where they left off last season averaging 19.3 and 18.3 points per game in the season’s opening week.

  1. South Warren 3-1 NR

Outlook: South Warren makes the week’s biggest jump from unranked to #6 after going 2-1 in Week 1, including a 55-44 win over Todd County Central. Senior Brandon Rowe had a strong first week, averaging 16 points and seven rebounds to lead the Spartans. A big showdown with Franklin-Simpson looms on Tuesday evening at home, before West Creek in Tennessee travels to South Warren on Saturday as part of the Sparty Classic.

  1. Todd County Central 1-2 7

Outlook: Todd County Central started the season 1-2 with three home games. The Rebels defeated Montgomery Central from Tennessee but were defeated by South Warren and Bowling Green. Jamison Glass led the way with 19.0 points and ten rebounds over the three-game stretch, while Trayvon Foster chipped in 12 points per night. Coach John Stigall’s team now travels to Trinity Whitesville (Tuesday), Caldwell County (Thursday), and then hosts Monroe County on Saturday afternoon.

  1. Greenwood 1-2 8

Outlook: Greenwood dropped two of its first three games starting 1-2 with losses at Owensboro Catholic and to Madison Southern sandwiched around a home win against Russell County. Luke Stansbury has led the way for the Gators, averaging 11.7 points per game and six made three-pointers. Coach Will McCoy’s club hosts Evangel Christian on Tuesday before traveling to Russellville on Friday. The Gators close the week at the Don Franklin Barren Hoops Classic where they will take on Fairdale at 1:30 PM.

  1. Monroe County 2-1 9

Outlook: Monroe County started off 2-1 with victories over Logan County and Russellville. John Harlin led the way for the Falcons with 16.0 points per game, including nine made three-pointers. Branson Williams and Deaton Emmert each averaged 7.3 rebounds per game. Monroe now hosts Clinton County on Tuesday, before traveling to Cumberland County and Todd County Central on Friday and Saturday.

  1.  Clinton County 1-1 NR

Outlook: Clinton County split its opening two games with a win over Allen County-Scottsville and a one-point loss at Franklin-Simpson. The Bulldogs get two big opportunities this week with a road game at #9 Monroe County (Tuesday) and a home game on Friday with #5 Metcalfe County. Cannon Young averaged 18.0 points per game over the season’s opening week.
