Week 9

  1. Bowling Green 13-8

Outlook: The Lady Purples have lost three out of their last four games but remain atop our standings as they are still undefeated in both district and region play. Coach Calvin Head’s club will have the opportunity to clinch the district’s top seed with a win over South Warren on Friday.

Week 9 Games: South Warren (Friday), Corbin (Saturday)

  1. Barren County 17-5

Outlook: Barren County has won six of its last seven games and is on the cusp of clinching the district’s #1 seed for a fourth-consecutive season. All that stands in its way is a Friday home game with crosstown rival, Glasgow. The Trojanettes won the first meeting, 58-32.

Week 9 Games: at Russellville (Tuesday), Glasgow (Friday)

  1. Franklin-Simpson 10-8

Outlook: After a tough stretch saw the Lady Wildcats lose six out of seven games, coach Ashley Taylor’s club seems to be back on the right track. Franklin-Simpson picked up three wins in Week 8 and will look for the season sweep of district rival Todd County Central on Friday. 

Week 9 Games: Allen County-Scottsville (Tuesday), at Todd County Central (Friday), Monroe County

  1. Metcalfe County 11-5

Outlook: Metcalfe County exited the 4th Region All “A” Classic earlier than expected but have won five out of six games to hold fourth in our current rankings. Kassady London leads the way for the Lady Hornets averaging 15.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest.

Week 9 Game: Pulaski County (Monday)

  1. Monroe County 10-7

Outlook: Monroe has won four-straight games (and 6 of 7), including the 4th Region All “A” Classic last week. The Lady Falcons picked up victories over Clinton County, Todd County Central, and Glasgow to take the region title. Coach Clifton Hamilton’s club tips off the state event at EKU on Wednesday evening with a game against Hancock County at 6:30 EST. 

Week 9 Game: Hancock County (at EKU, Wednesday)

  1. South Warreen 10-11

Outlook: Don’t let South Warren’s overall record alarm you – the Lady Spartans may be below .500, but they are 6-2 in 4th Region play and 3-1 against the 14th District. Winners of three of their last four, South travels to Warren East and Bowling Green this week.

Week 9 Games: at Warren East (Tuesday), at Bowling Green (Friday)

  1. Greenwood 12-9

Outlook: Greenwood’s season has comprised four long streaks. Five-straight wins led to six-consecutive losses. Six more wins followed, as did three losses. The Lady Gators hope their latest win over Ohio County will be the start of a new winning streak.

Week 9 Games: Logan County (Tuesday), at Warren Central (Friday), at Clinton County (Saturday)

  1. Glasgow 11-8

Outlook: Glasgow defeated Cumberland County in the 4th Region All “A” Classic before being ousted by Monroe County in the semifinals, 42-37. Mia Cassady continues to lead the way for the Lady Scotties, averaging 13 points per game.

Week 9 Games: at Green County (Tuesday), at Barren County (Friday)

  1. Cumberland County 12-8

Outlook: Cumberland County boasts one of the most balanced teams in the 4th Region with four players averaging around double figures. Abby Morgan (11.8), Carly Nettles (9.9), Kenzie Willen (9.8), Madi Cooksey (9.8) will each play a major role down the stretch as the Lady Panthers look to stay in the 16th District race.

Week 9 Game: Russell County (Tuesday)

  1.  Todd County Central 11-8

Outlook: After starting the season 5-0, the Lady Rebels have been around .500 on the season. With four district games yet to be played over the course of the final three weeks, coach Nick Suttle’s club will look to find its footing behind the star power of  Alexis Taylor (17.4 points, 11.6 rebounds per game).

Week 9 Game: Franklin-Simpson (Friday)

Next Teams Up: Clinton County, Logan County
