  1. Franklin-Simpson 19-1

Outlook: Franklin-Simpson continues to piece together an incredible season on the hardwood, sitting at 19-1 as we head into the final month of the season. Former Russellville standout LaReesha Cawthorne leads the Lady Wildcats with 17.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Franklin hosts Logan County on Monday with both teams sitting undefeated in district play.

  1. Bowling Green 13-4

Outlook: Bowling Green rebounded from a Franklin-Simpson loss with four-consecutive wins and remain atop the 14th District standings with two games to go. Five players are averaging at least six points per game, led by Katy Smiley’s 11.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. A rematch of the 2023 region title game is on tap for Monday night at BG when Barren County comes to town.

  1. Warren East 16-2

Outlook: The Lady Raiders knocked off Allen County-Scottsville in overtime on Friday night to win their 13th-straight game. Coach Jenny Neville’s club has used a balanced approach on offense with five players averaging nearly nine points per game. Sam Carver and Kennedy Lawson lead the way at ten points per contest. Warren East remains tied for the 15th District lead with Barren County and clinch a tie for the regular-season crown with a win over Allen County-Scottsville at home this week.

  1. Barren County 15-4

Outlook: Barren County pushed its win streak to six games with four victories over the course of the past week. Senior Abby Varney continues to lead the way at 17.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. A rematch of the 2023 region final (and four of the last five) awaits the Trojanettes on Monday evening when they travel to Bowling Green for a matchup with the Lady Purples.

Barren’s Abby Varney
  1. Cumberland County 11-7

Outlook: Cumberland County has won four out of five games (and 9 of 11) to move into the top five of our power rankings. Three wins in the 4th Region All “A” Tournament clinched a berth in the All-A State Tournament in Corbin last week. Despite falling to Owsley County in the opening round, the Lady Panthers remain one of the hottest teams in the 4th Region. Freshman Madi Cooksey leads the team in scoring (15.2 points) and in rebounding (6.3 per game).

  1. Logan County 13-6

Outlook: Logan County remains undefeated in district play after defeating Russellville, 68-19, on Friday night Brenley Adler and Emily Borders lead the way for the Lady Cougars at 12.1 and 11.4 points per game. Coach Dedra Adler’s club have the opportunity to move into first place in the district standings on Monday when it travels to Franklin to take on the Lady Wildcats.

  1. South Warren 7-10

Outlook: South Warren started the season 1-5 but have rebounded in January and currently are in the driver’s seat for the 14th District’s 2-seed after defeating Greenwood last week. Sophomore guard McLaine Hudson leads the way with 17.8 points per game and has made 40 three-pointers on the season. On Tuesday, the Lady Spartans welcome Logan County for a matchup that could be a preview for a 4th Region Tournament game down the road.

South’s McLaine Hudson
  1. Greenwood 10-11

Outlook: Greenwood opened the week with a loss to South Warren but rebounded with victories over Logan County and Warren Central. Senior guard Leia Trinh is still terrorizing opposing defenses at nearly 21 points per game, while Avery Overmohle is nearly averaging a double-double with 8.2 points and 8.3 rebounds a contest. The Lady Gators have a tough week ahead with games against two of the region’s best in Barren County and Bowling Green. GHS also hosts Region 1 stalwart, Marshall County.

  1. Metcalfe County 10-9

Outlook: Metcalfe County sits atop the 16th District standings at 5-1 and will wrap up play this week with games against #10 Russell County and #5 Cumberland County. Three players average in double figures, led by Kassady London’s 13.2 points per game. Anna Blythe is averaging 11.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest. The Lady Hornets have won three-straight district titles and have a chance to clinch the district’s top seed this week.

Metcalfe’s Anny Blythe
  1.  Russell County 10-7

Outlook: Russell County has won five of its last seven games to move into our Sporting Times’ Top Ten. Rachel Bolin leads the way with 11.2 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, and Aniya Coffey is averaging 9.2 points per contest. The Lady Lakers have two district games this week as both Metcalfe County and Monroe County travel to Russell Springs.
