Week of February 12

Record (Ranking Last Week)

  1. Franklin-Simpson 25-1 (1)

Outlook: Franklin-Simpson currently sits at #2 in the statewide RPI and has won eight-straight games over the course of the last month. The Lady Cats are 15-0 against 4th Region opponents and have clinched the #1 seed for the 13th District Tournament. In a 53-44 win over perennial contender Barren County, Kloie Smith went 8-for-9 from the field to lead the way with 18 points.

Upcoming Game: Glasgow (Friday)

  1. Warren East 16-2 (3)

Outlook: Since eking by Allen County-Scottsville in overtime two weeks ago, the Lady Raiders have won six games by 35.5 points per victory. Warren East has won nineteen-consecutive games, dating back to early December. On Monday, coach Jenny Neville’s club faces off with former district rival South Warren looking to end a three-game losing streak against the Lady Spartans dating back to 2021.

Upcoming Games: at South Warren (Monday), Monroe County (Thursday)

Update: Warren East defeated South Warren, 43-31, for its 20th-straight win

  1. Bowling Green 16-7 (2)

Outlook: Uncharacteristically, Bowling Green has lost three of its last five games as we enter the homestretch of the regular season. After a loss at home to Warren Central, the Lady Purples rebounded with a double overtime victory against 5th Region stalwart, North Hardin. Junior Katy Smiley canned five three-pointers to lead the team with 18 points in the victory.

Upcoming Games: at Owensboro Catholic (Tuesday), Bethlehem (Friday), McCracken County (Saturday)

  1. Barren County 19-7 (4)

Outlook: The Trojanettes played four times in the last seven days, winning three times. Since senior Katie Murphy’s return to the lineup, the club has won eight of eleven games. Murphy’s ability to defend on the perimeter and knock down three-pointers (40% on the season) gives Piper Lindsey another veteran in the lineup for the season’s final month.

Upcoming Games: at Metcalfe County (Tuesday), Clinton County (Friday)

  1. Metcalfe County 15-9 (9)

Outlook: Metcalfe County’s win streak hit six games (and 10 out of 11) with a 59-49 victory over South Warren on Saturday. Senior Anna Blythe and freshman Jozie Allen each scored 16 for the Lady Hornets. Metcalfe clinched the 16th District’s top seed by winning its last three district games over Monroe County (49-44), Russell County (58-47), and Cumberland County (51-34) to complete the district slate at 7-1.

Upcoming Games: Barren County (Tuesday), Hart County (Thursday)

  1. Russell County 14-7 (10)

Outlook: Russell County continues its second-half surge, winning its last four games and 9 out of 12. The Lady Lakers are now on the doorstep of the 2-seed for the upcoming district tournament. A win over Clinton County on Wednesday will give coach Brett Blankenship’s club the #2. A loss would make things a little more complicated. Russell defeated Clinton, 52-34, back in December.

Upcoming Games: at Green County (Tuesday), at Clinton County (Wednesday), Adair County (Friday)

  1. Greenwood 12-14 (8)

Outlook: First-year coach Terrance Williams has not been afraid to test his club this season, including a brutal stretch over the last two weeks. The Lady Gators are 2-4 over their last six games, but five of their opponents in that stretch have won between 18 and 26 games on the season. Greenwood picked up important district wins over Bowling Green and South Warren to tie the Lady Purples in the standings. GHS will be the 2-seed due to RPI standings.

Upcoming Games: at Monroe County (Tuesday), at Daviess County (Thursday)

  1. Monroe County 10-12 (NR)

Outlook: Monroe County makes its first appearance in the ST Power Rankings after winning three out of their last four games. Three players are averaging in double figures, led by Sarah Thompson at 13.1 points per game. The freshman power forward is also averaging 10.2 rebounds per contest. The Lady Falcons have an outside shot at avoiding the play-in game if the results go the right way in Russell-Clinton on Wednesday.

Upcoming Games: Greenwood (Tuesday), at Warren East (Thursday)

  1. Cumberland County 14-11 (5)

Outlook: After winning the 4th Region All-A Classic, the Lady Panthers have struggled to put together consistent results and will be seeded fifth in the 16th District Tournament after losing their final four district games. Coach Kristen Anderson’s club has four games to right the ship and a balanced team to do so. Keagan Walden is averaging 11.6 points per game, while Kenzie Willen has hit 42 three-pointers for Cumberland.

Upcoming Games: McCreary Central (Tuesday), at Campbellsville (Friday)

  1.  Todd County Central 14-11 (NR)

Outlook: Todd County Central won its final two district games to clinch the 2-seed in the upcoming 13th District Tournament. Alexis Taylor continues to have a dominant season, averaging 18.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. Abby Williams is also averaging in double figures at 13.8 points per contest.

Upcoming Games: Warren Central (Friday)

Next Teams Up: South Warren, Logan County, Allen County-Scottsville
