There are many intangibles in athletes that cannot be measured by height, weight, strength, or speed. At 5’10” 175 pounds Nacarius Fant has proven in two sports that heart, determination, attitude and natural talent anything is possible.
Nacarius has consistently performed on the biggest stages, during the most critical moments of a game which is what he embraces without hesitation or fear.
In the KHSAA Boys State Sweet 16 Basketball Final Four game against Covington Catholic, the Purples were down by 23 points with 2:06 left in the first half. Nacarius had 11 points going into the half. In the second half the senior guard exploded for 20 points and going 9-10 from the charity line to rally his team to as close as 6 points against Catholic.
Even though the Purples effort fell short against Covington Catholic who went on to win the Boys State basketball championship this season, many things can be taken from that game. An example of not giving up and playing hard certainly was exhibited not only Fant, but by the entire Purples team.
Fant’s second half performance it just another reminder that great players and leaders do not have to be the fastest, strongest, or biggest to be successful. Fant starts his the second half of his athletic career this fall as he joins the WKU Hilltoppers Football Team.
Congratulations and Good Luck on the Hill.
